Toastmasters

November 6th, 2006 by Endless Aspiration

I want to mention Toastmasters International because about half the people I know have heard of it and half haven’t. Toastmasters is an organization that works with you to improve your public speaking skills. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to be able to get up in front of a group of people and present your thoughts in a clear, confident, and intelligent manner.

If you’re looking for a way to stand out within your office, this is a great way to do it. They even send letters to your employer informing them when you attain certain levels within the Toastmasters organization. It can also be a great networking opportunity because it allows you to meet people who are devoted to improving themselves.

It can be a great opportunity if you find a good Toastmaster Club that is vibrant and full of members who consistently participate. Warning! If you go check out a club in your area and there are only four people there and they seem to be there for the sake of being there, stay away! Look to see if there is another club in your area. Make sure you find a club with active members who are constantly seeking to improve their public speaking skills. As is the case for most things like this, you get out of it what you put into it. If there is a good club in the area, join it and learn as much as you can from it.
